Eon Business Energy Manager Monitor Software
A new service has been launched aimed mostly at small business owners to monitor their electricity usage through a new tool and software.
The new Eon business energy monitor system package comes with a monitor you attach to your current meter and software so you can see at a glance just how much energy your business is using from your computer desktop.
The whole package is free of charge when you sign up to one of the Eon fixed rate tariffs and after a while it will not only show you your usage but determine if you are on the right tariff for your electric consumption.
So what do you receive
If you are a new customer with Eon you’ll be sent your pack around 30 days after your contract starts and if you are already an Eon customer you can request the pack but you’ll only receive it once your new contract begins. You’ll get:
- An ENVI energy monitor which you attach to your meter that has a sensor and transmitter to send the data on your electricity usage so your software can work
- Bespoke software on a CD so you can see and analyse your data
- A user guide on what it all means
- A cable to connect your PC up to the whole system
As yet it is only for PCs or Mac computers that run windows software. It will prompt you to communicate with Eon if based on your electricity consumption they can put you onto a more competitive tariff.
This system is for most business customers that pay by direct debit however in some cases you won’t be eligible and these include:
- If you don’t pay by direct debit – ie: you pay your paper bill on demand or via BACs
- If you have more than 20 sites – so this is really aimed at SMEs and small business owners with a few sites
- If you have a meter profile type of 01, 02, 05, 07, 08 or 00
- If you only take gas from Eon because this monitors electricity only
If you already have some other form of management software you can still use the energy monitor provided to download the information. The monitor itself consumes power but at a rate of a standard mobile phone charger. It’s fairly easy to install but you may need a qualified electrician just in case. The transmitted it comes with has a range of about 30 meters so just ensure you place it in range.
How do I get the energy monitor ?
You’ll need to be a customer of Eon of course and have a meter that’s eligible (see above for those that are not) but generally if you have a meter profile class of 03 or 04 and sign up for one of their business electricity fixed price contracts and pay by direct debit and have under 20 sites then your business qualifies.
This is a great way forward for small business owners who want to ensure that not only that they can find new ways to save costs but also ensure that they are on the most competitive tariff for their organisation. You can get a quote for business electricity and gas from Eon on their website.
